Common Sense?

OK, So we left home for Christmas this year. We are currently at Jess's parents house in WV. Everything was your typical travel kind of day. Our first flight was great. Other than the fact I had to sit in the middle, it was smooth and quiet. Then we had a lay over in Charlotte, NC. So we found our next flight and then went to the closet place to have a drink and a small bite to eat. So far so good. Then we went back to our gate to find we were showing a 30 min delay. Now to paint to picture. Our gate was fairly level with the aircraft. We sat facing the windows so we could watch the planes. Now the gate next to us got set to board. These were small planes by the way, they drop the stairs and you board. On this flight someone needed help getting up so they rolled a ramp to the plane. Then they came back inside and we heard this... "Does anyone else want to board now while the ramp is there?" So here is my question. Why not board everyone with the ramp since it is there? Why put the ramp into place for one person who needs it and then move it for other to just climb the stairs? This just wastes time. And during the holiday traveling wasting time get on peoples nerves real fast. Myself, I just got a kick out of the whole thing, given it wasn't my flight. Jess mentioned that maybe they needed the ramp for another flight. Maybe, so we watched them put it back where it was. There it stayed as we departed. So since they used it 3 flights had departed. So no, they didn't need it anywhere else. So again I ask Why not board everyone with the ramp?

So that was the entertainment part of the trip. Now our portion of the aggravation. Shortly after the flight next to us left, another flight out of our same gate boarded just before us. This was an over booked flight and asked for people to give up their seats. So someone came up and volunteered. Then our flight began boarding. The flight boarding before us still had not locked up and departed so we had stragglers from that flight mixed into our boarding. Yes, I said that too. "This cant be safe." Or a good idea. Next, we were all boarded. Then the numbers didn't match up. We had more passengers than tickets so someone didn't belong. Yep, someone missed the other flight and boarded the wrong plane. This whole proses took longer than our 45 minute flight that has now been delayed for over an hour.

The flight. The plane was small. Two seats on each side. As I said this was a short flight. Take off was a little bumpy not too bad. Once we got above the clouds and weather it was fairly smooth. Then... bumpy? Ha, That is quite the understatement. We had a good drop and several "bumps" in the air. Then we landed in Charleston, this is the place where they cut off the top of a mountain and called it a landing strip. So you see land far below, a cliff and land. This by the way was the only flight that the attendant told us about the vomit bags and then reminded us again during the turbulence to not be afraid to use them. Also while she was sitting in her seat reading a book. Was quite funny though the turbulence was pretty bad. So that's it. We landed and we are now visiting with family.

Have a good Christmas. We'll be home soon.
